Fertility Coach Track

Upgrade your SmartLoving Fertility experience to the Coach track!

Your SL Fertility course includes full instruction in Fertility Awareness and takes you step by step through a process of learning how to use SmartFertility to confidently avoid, or plan, conception.

However, you may like to have personal input from a SL Coach to assist you in identifying your fertile indicators and applying the lovemaking guidelines with more confidence. This is particularly useful if:

you have very irregular cycle lengths
you have been on hormonal contraception for more than two years
you are sub-fertile (ie of low fertility)
you have a health condition that would be worsened by a pregnancy
you are approaching menopause (40+ years old)
you are post-partum or breastfeeding.

The Coach track includes:

Initial briefing by video chat or voice message.
Three 30 minute coach sessions (video chat) to answer your questions and review your fertility record.
Fertility record feedback on-demand (via voice message/email) throughout the learning period (6 months).

How it works

Once you go through the checkout and create your account, you'll receive an email with contact details for your SL Fertility Coach. Your coach will provide instructions for setting up a chat communication (usually What's App or Signal) and explain your next steps.
You can book your coach sessions whenever you chose but as a guide, we recommend the following.
1. Coach Session 1 - end lesson 4, beginning cycle 1: Work your way quickly through to Lesson 4 which is when you will begin keeping a fertility record. This is a good time to book your first coach session.
2. Coach Session 2 - end lesson 5, end of cycle 2: You'll need to wait until you have completed 2 cycles before applying Lesson 5. Once you have done this, book your second session.
3. Coach Session 3 - end lesson 7, end cycle 4: Complete lessons 6 & 7 during cycle 3 then book your final coach session.
You can leave a voice message or get feedback on your fertility record via the chat communication at any time for 6 months. Keep messages brief and allow 1-2 days for your coach to reply.

SmartLoving Fertility FAQs

I am using hormonal contraception - can I use SmartFertility?

You can certainly learn what is involved in using a Fertility Awareness Method like SmartFertility, but you won't be able to apply it until you discontinue hormonal contraception. This is because hormonal contraception disrupts the normal ovulation cycle by suppressing the body's natural production of reproductive hormones. In particular, synthetic progesterone blocks the effect of estrogen, so you will be unlikely to see any of the fertile cervical fluid build-up.

It can take several months once you discontinue hormonal contraception for your cycle to fully recover as residual synthetic hormones can still be present in your body. Every woman is different and the return to fertility can be as short as a few weeks, or many months.

You should begin recording your fertility biomarkers now and discontinue hormonal contraception as soon as possible, taking into account that you may need additional time for your fertile pattern to stabilise and to confidently use SmartFertility. Assuming that you had normal fertility before beginning hormonal contraception, once the synthetic hormones are out of your system, SmartFertility works just like any other situation. The only tricky part is navigating the transition to being synthetic-hormone-free.

I don't want to use any contraception, like condoms or pills. Can I still use SmartFertility?

What makes SmartFertility different from other natural fertility apps and programs?

SmartFertility uniquely emphasises the importance of discernment as part of fertility management. Your fertility goals - whether you are avoiding, or trying to achieve pregnancy - are a vital part of your journey. It's important to revisit these goals regularly, but this can be a difficult topic to discuss as a couple.

The SmartFertility method is designed to help couples discern fertility goals as part of natural fertility management. The inbuilt discussion tools strengthen your connection as a couple to make fertility management an intentional, enjoyable and meaningful part of your relationship.

Is SmartFertility suitable for us?

SmartFertility is designed for married and engaged couples. It is a fertility management system that combines Catholic teachings with scientific methodology, and is a natural, non-invasive alternative to contraceptive technology and products. Although it can be used by single women to monitor their fertility cycle, keep in mind that it is a management system designed for couples.

The SmartLoving Fertility Course (as with all SmartLoving courses) can only be used if you're of legal age (18 years old in most countries).

Does SmartFertility protect against STIs?

How long will it take?

The SmartLoving Fertility course is comprised of 7 lessons which together take a minimum 2.5 hours active on the learning platform to complete. However, for maximum benefit, you will want to make observations of your fertile signs as you progress. In some cases, this may mean waiting for a month before progressing to the next lesson. This is particularly important if you want to use SmartFertility to opposed to simply learn about it.

I have irregular periods. Can I still use SmartFertility?

Unlike older methods that rely on cycle history to predict the fertile window, SmartFertility uses biomarkers that track your ovulation cycle in real time. In other words, it is not dependent on having regular cycles, although, it is easier to learn the method if your cycles are predictable.

If you have irregular cycles, you might find it helpful to have a personal fertility educator to assist you during the learning phase. Use the comments or help centre to ask a question or book a coaching session with Francine.

Keep in mind, that while it is normal to have some variation in cycle length, highly irregular cycles can be a symptom of a reproductive health issue and should be investigated by your doctor.

We're not ready for a pregnancy right now - is SmartFertility suitable for us?

Absolutely! SmartFertility is based on the SymptoThermal Method, a highly reliable method for postponing pregnancy when used correctly. You need to allow yourselves about three months to learn how to identify your fertile window and then follow the lovemaking guidelines to be confident of success in postponing pregnancy.

However, we would also encourage you to stay open to the possibility of pregnancy as sometimes a surprise baby is a unexpected blessing to a couple.

We've previously had trouble falling pregnant, will SmartFertility be able to help us conceive?

SmartFertility assists you in identifying your fertile window and your fertility peak. If timing is your issue, SmartFertility will be a significant help and will allow you to time your lovemaking to maximise your chances of conception.

If there are other issues associated with your ability to conceive, SmartFertility can provide important information about your reproductive health which may help your doctor in diagnosing the problem.
