Mercy Gospel Reflection: Aug 28

Gospel Reflections for Married Couples

28 August  – 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

In this week’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us to be giving so “that they cannot pay you back.”

It is easy in marriage to fall into the trap of keeping score; especially with regard to chores; how many times have I done the dishes, changed the dirty nappy or called back a family member compared to how many times you have?

Jesus reminds us that when we love another we don’t do something for what we can get in return we do it because we love them.

What could you do for your spouse this week simply because you love them and without regard for what you might get back?
